The USMMA Central NJ Alumni Chapter is hosting a maritime industry event on Thursday, May 10, at the Raritan Yacht Club in Perth Amboy, NJ. The flyer provides you with the necessary details, but some of the highlights are as follows:

* The event is open to alumni of USMMA as well as our fellow alumni from NY, Mass, and Maine Maritime Academies. Midshipmen will be invited as will industry professionals, government representatives, and members of the Academy staff, Alumni Foundation, and Parents Association.

* Our featured guest speaker will be Capt. Andrew McGovern, President of the Sandy Hook Pilots Association. His bio and topic are noted on the flyer.

* Cost is only $35 per person, includes dinner but Cash Bar only.

* Payment in advance is required . Please click on PayPal links on the flyer (thanks to Gary Hicks of the KP Chesapeake Alumni Chapter for allowing us to use his PayPal account). Cut / paste the link to your browser if you have trouble. Checks made out to "USMMA Central NJ Alumni Chapter" can be mailed to our Chapter Treasurer, Ray Camarda, whose address is on the first page of the flyer.

* RSVP for head count purposes needs to be made by April 30 by notifying me at jam42@optonline.net and Tim Dacey at tjdacey@optonline.net (our gracious host at the RYC!!).

For those of you who attended last year's event at the Raritan Yacht Club you know that it is a great venue. In my opinion the event was successful in large part due to the great attendance of alumni from SUNY, Mass. and Maine Maritime. It truly was an industry day where professionalism was on display and, beyond the expected good-natured ribbing, there really was no distinction made to what school you attended. Heck, I've heard that the Maine and Mass. Maritime guys (one strong alum from each school attended) may even return this year!

So, mark your calendars and plan to join us on Thursday, May 10.
