STEAMING HOMEWARD - The Training Ship EMPIRE STATE VI is heading back to
Fort Schuyler. The Ship's Librarian, RALPH FOLCARELLI, managed to send an
email on 2 July: "Tomorrow is my last day in Scotland. Made two bus trips
into the country and saw the Loch Ness Monster -- looks just like me. Each
port was great - even Philadelphia my birthplace. All different. Las Palmas,
Canary Islands was terrific beautiful scenery, weather and beaches.
Copenhagen, couldn't get enough of walking all over that city until I got
blisters (very expensive city) Tivoli Gardens has to be the most beautiful
amusement park in the world it goes back to the mid-l800's. Danish are very
friendly, city is spotless and crime free. Edinburgh is also a dream city
(also very expensive) our berth isn't that great, but I have learned to walk
and lot and I have mastered the transit system. The countryside is spectacular
and very green. We leave on Wed. and I will be home on the 17 -- I hope. We
take the slow route. We have had terrific weather -- hope it holds out on
the trek home." Sounds like another good cruise.
DID YOU KNOW ? PETER A. JENSEN, Class of 1978, remembers that a SUNY
Chancellor, CLIFFORD WHARTON, attended his graduation at Fort Schuyler. BTW,
Peter works for ExxonMobil in Fairfax, Virginia as "the Emergency Response
Advisor for Refining & Supply North America and the Coordinator for our
North America Regional Response Team." [But what does that mean ?]
