Description of Scholarships

2012 Summer Sea Term Scholarship - $170,000.00 has been appropriated by the Board of Directors and FSMF to fund Scholarships. The final total will be higher based on this year's annual appeal to FSMMA members. Summer Sea Term Scholarships are intended to financially assist 1st and 2nd Class Cadets who are members of the Regiment of Cadets in Good Standing and who attend and successfully complete Summer Sea Term, 2012, aboard the College Training Ship Empire State (not cadet observer). Recipients must have a minimum 2.5 Cumulative Grade Point Average as of the beginning of the spring, 2012 College Term. Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis and in accordance with the requirements stipulated by the donors of the funds to be distributed and pursuant to rules adopted by the Board of Directors.

Funds for this year's Summer Sea Term Scholarships have been derived from the investment income earned by a number of endowment funds administered by the Alumni Association or FSMMA on behalf of individual donors and Graduating Class Groups who have established endowments with the Alumni Association or FSMF for this purpose. Additional funds are being provided through annual gifts made this year by members and other generous donors for the purpose of aiding the Alumni Association's Scholarship Program through the Alumni Association's "Scholarship Fund." Graduates of the College are encouraged to contribute to the Alumni Association's Scholarship Fund and its other activities.
